Lucky Bandit
Lucky Bandit

Lucky was rescued from our local County Animal Shelter, on the day that he was to be put down (July 7, 2008), as they don't adopt out pit bulls. As foster parents for Misunderstood, one look at him and we just couldn't bear to see him put down. We took him home. After a period of adjustment, he fit right in. After several months of fostering him, we just couldn't bear to let him go. He had "adopted" us and we in turn couldn't help but fall in love him. He is the sweetest dog around people and adores children. He is adapting to his training well and loves his belly rubs...he is also adjusting well to his new name, Rocky. Harrell Family

Miles
Miles

Miles is absolutely the sweetest dog. He loves our children and other dogs. He tags along after "his" girl Adi, keeping her and her twin brother James out of trouble and plays with Ali, our oldest daughter. We can't imagine home without him. The Falvella Family.

Buddy
Buddy

Buddy was meant to be our dog. He was located in South Carolina in a shelter that did not adopt out pit bulls. When my husband and I first started working with Misunderstood, our first "rescue mission" was to this shelter. He and I traveled to South Carolina to pick up five wonderful ambassadors. Unfortunately, we were not able to get Buddy at that time because he was undergoing heartworm treatment. Since that day in May, Buddy's picture and story stuck in my mind and I continuously tried to find a foster home that would take him. Finally, in August, we decided to have him transported up to be placed in boarding until we could find him a foster. When he arrived he was so skinny and scared that we just couldn't put him in a boarding situation. He came to our home and despite his horrible past as a bait dog, warmed right up to our two pits Tony and Carmen. It took him a little longer to trust us humans, and he spent the first few days huddled in his crate. Since that day, however, Buddy has just blossomed. He runs up to us with the biggest pittie smile and wiggles so hard he can barely keep his feet on the ground. Buddy picked us and we just could not let him go. He has found a forever home with us where he will never be cold, hungry, or hurt again, but instead loved.....and spoiled rotten. ~Craig and Jennifer Smith~

Conan
Conan

Meet Leo, he is our 5 month old almost 50 pound wonderful pitbull. Leo has become a great addition to our family. We started our search for a larger dog that we wanted to join our existing family of 6 to include myself, my wife, 2 sixteen year old boys, 11 year old daughter, and our 8 year old female chihuahua named Princess. We wanted a larger dog but didn't want to fight the shedding and constant clean up of hair that many large breeds produce. We found Leo online through a wonderful Rescue named Misunderstood Rescue. We did our homework on the breed and found out that these dogs are truly misunderstood. The name says it all. Leo is extremely smart. My wife has taught him a wide range of tricks in only a short time. He also attends formal dog training classes in a structured atmosphere. In just 2 short 30 minute classes he learned everything that he needed to pass his test and move on to level 2. Our goal is to have him pass the "Canine Good Citizenship Certification" test by the time he is 8 months old. With his calm nature yet high level of desire to please, we hope Leo will eventually move on to possibly compete in agility contests or even be a working dog such as a rescue dog of some sort. Again, I emphasize his ability to learn is phenomenal. With all this said though, he still loves to be a puppy too. Playing with the kids, walking with my wife, playing with other dogs, he is doing it all. Not to mention the number of toys that he has worked over. We are very thankful that we came across the wonderful establishment of Misunderstood Rescue and the people that are associated with them. We will always be ambassadors for this wonderful and truly MISUNDERSTOOD BREED............Wilcox family
